A tribute to my friend and ministry partner [Morgan Jackson - FCBH]

I remember each time I met with Loren he always asked if we could get all the last language groups Scripture by December 2024, adding “I want to give the Lord a Christmas gift.” Then I would reaffirm that we were still hoping and working hard for 2033 and although I’d love to see 2024 did not see it was possible.

Loren traveled the world in his last years challenging each of the YWAM offices to do Oral Bible Translation and today YWAM is one of the key members of the Every Tribe Every Nation Oral Bible affinity table. The work we are doing together with YWAM is accelerating Bible translation to a point where we may be able to get Scripture in every language sooner than 2033. Thank you, Loren.

Loren was a bear of a man, and his warm hugs always left you feeling loved. When Faith Comes By Hearing first began to work with Loren and YWAM, someone asked if I felt we had grabbed a lion by the tail. I said, “No, I feel like I’ve been grabbed by an anaconda and am being slowly swallowed!”

Loren had a passion for the least, the last, and the lost and to see youth trained, challenged, and sent to be part of seeing the last language groups receive Bible in their language and to know Jesus Christ.

I always laugh with pleasure when I think of how he viewed giving. The YWAM leadership told me they had to put a house for Loren in a trust because if not he would give it away. Every time there was a challenge to give, he was always looking to give everything away. How can you not admire this kind of generosity?

I loved Loren and loved knowing the ministry of Faith Comes By Hearing was working to help fulfill his heart’s desire to see every language and people before God’s throne. And I love that he was never satisfied but always pushing to accomplish all for Christ now!

It gives me pleasure to know that Loren is among that crowd of witnesses encouraging us onward, and I can feel him asking, “Are you sure you/we can’t get it done sooner?” May the Lord hear Loren’s prayer and may every language have Scripture in their mother tongue, soon!!
